Finally the crummy weather we have had has broken. We have sunshine and warm temperatures. This is what we like about spring.
On top of that it’s fishing opener in Minnesota. I cannot remember when we last had a nice day for the opener. I expect there will be a lot of lines out in the water this weekend. Folks have been inside shivering for too long. They are going to get out and play.
There have been few reports of damage from the cold and hail. Field corn has weathered the last weeks well. My garden looks good. The peas are up about 4 inches and all the other plants are growing well. I picked my first radish yesterday. It’s about time to plant my sweet corn, tomato and pepper plants will wait two more weeks. Pumpkins and other vine crops will wait until almost mid June.
The lilacs and flowering crab’s are in full bloom. The air is full of the wonderful smells of spring. Get out and enjoy it.
Michael
