So it seems a wedding is in our future. My daughter Beth has become engaged to Michael Feltes. Yes, It’s Michael. How does this happen? We now have two Michaels in the family.
They originally met when Beth worked in the Chicago area. Michael’s path led him to Hurricane Katrina cleanup, and then to Minnesota, where their paths crossed again. And get this, his father and my father know each other. Small world.
As father of the bride I am both excited and apprehensive. I’m going to have a few bills to pay. The date and place are being worked out, but it looks like a June wedding at our church are the first choice. Details, details!
My bride is spending some time with Beth to work on plans. It is amazing how many things are already booked up months ahead of time. Small town America has fewer choices, and lower prices, than the big city, but we are finding some wonderful options that are off the beaten path. There is much to decide. Details, details.
My work around the house also takes on an added pressure. I had a whole summers worth of landscape work planned. Now I may have to get that done by June. Looks like the early harvest will allow me to start this fall, but there is so much to do. Details, details.
Oh well. At least it’s a happy rush order.
Michael
