Late nights and repairs

Harvest has been going well as the weather stays mostly rain free.  We’ve had some minor repairs to equipment but none that have held up harvest for long.  Some times to finish a field the work has gone late into the night.  These events are all in what you expect from harvest.

Corn moisture seems to have stopped its fall.  Moisture levels are holding between 17 and 24% depending on variety.  That means that we’re going to keep the dryer going.

The temperatures are still a bit above normal.  Most days are in the upper 40’s with the nights dropping to just below freezing.  The cold temperatures are going to help cool the corn for winter storage.  It will be nice to freeze the corn down.  It helps keep the corn in good condition until spring warmup.

Now it’s time for sleep.  Morning seems to come all too soon.
