The snowfall before Christmas

It’s predawn here in southern Minnesota as we watch the weather reports and forecasts.  We’ve had a bit of new snow overnight but next to no wind.  With the forecast for lighter winds during the day we expect our son and his wife to make it here for Christmas.  Tonight the winds are to pick up and the snow fall is expected to increase.  Tomorrow could be difficult for travel.

Beth’s boss sent her home early yesterday so she was here by mid-afternoon.  That really reduced my wife’s stress level.  She had been expected to be working through later this afternoon.  That would have meant she would be traveling after dark in the snow.  Travel can be difficult enough when it snows and blows, but after dark it gets deadly.  Glad the kids are traveling in the daylight.

We’re blaming this snow on our daughter who is here from Hawaii.  She wanted snow for Christmas.  I’m just glad she didn’t want cold with the snow.  The relatively warm temperatures are welcome in this storm.

Please stay warm and with those you love on this day before Christmas.  Don’t take chances with the weather.  Drive carefully.
