Gentle rain on garden and field

When you get larger amounts of rain it is always good for them to come slowly.  Yesterday we had a rain event that did just that.  It started raining about 11:00 and finished about 5:00.  In that time we got seven tenths of an inch.  That brings our weeks total to one point three inches.  After almost three weeks of no rain it was welcome.

Our farm fields were not suffering yet, but some late planted beans were put into dry soil.  Some area lawns were showing the stress of heat and dry.  My new garden transplants needed some water to keep them going.  This rain will keep us going for a bit.

The asparagus continues to need daily harvest.  Our radish harvest seems to be over, the few plants left are more interested in producing seeds than radishes for the table.  I harvested the first of the leaf lettuce yesterday, the spinach crop is nearly ready.  Corn and potatoes are both doing well.  The peas and raspberries are blooming signifying a nearing harvest.  The number of blooms on my young tomatoes is also encouraging.  It should be a good season in the garden.

Mike, I seem to have lost all of the family email addresses. More testing today for Greg and I think now we have a plan. Doing well. Can you send these to me, please? Thanks, Rhonda
