On the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918 an armistice was signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities. This was for many years known as Armistice Day, but since 1978 has been observed on November 11 as Veterans Day.
This morning I joined the local veterans at the school where we celebrated with speeches, band music and children singing. Although I am not a veteran, I have many family and friends who either have served or are currently serving.
Yes, I went back to other jobs in the afternoon, but on this the 11th day of the 30 day challenge, I spent the morning honoring those who have dedicated their lives to the service of our country.
